Practical answers about getting there, the tours, wildlife, and what to pack.

Getting There

Which airport do I fly into?

Unless you are doing an adventurous overland trip within Borneo, the easiest way to reach Pangkalan Bun is by air, flying into Iskandar Airport (PKN).

Where do flights depart from?

Flight schedules change often depending on the airlines in service. Direct or connecting flights are available from Jakarta, Surabaya, Semarang, and Banjarmasin. It is highly recommended to book in advance.

Do you pick up at the airport?

Yes. We meet you at the airport and drive 20 minutes to the klotok in Kumai.

Can you help book my flights?

Yes, we will help arrange your domestic flight connections from Bali or Jakarta. That way, if there are any delays or scheduling changes while you are in a remote area, we can contact the airline directly to make changes.

How far is Kumai from the airport?

About a 20-minute drive from Pangkalan Bun to Kumai harbour.

The Tours

How long are the tours?

From a one-day trip to 5 days/4 nights. The 3D/2N tour is the most popular.

Where do we sleep?

On the klotok itself, with a mattress, pillow, and mosquito net under the stars.

Is food included?

Yes, our cook prepares all meals and drinking water on board.

Is there a toilet on the boat?

Yes, a simple toilet is available on the klotok.

Are tours private or shared?

Both. We offer private tours and shared open trips — just ask for what suits you.

Wildlife

Will I definitely see orangutans?

Sightings at feeding stations are very likely, though wildlife is wild and never guaranteed.

What other animals will I see?

Proboscis monkeys, macaques, gibbons, hornbills, kingfishers, and sometimes crocodiles.

What are feeding times?

Usually 09.00 at some stations and 14.00–15.00 at others; your guide plans around them.

Can I touch the orangutans?

No. To protect them from disease, keep your distance and never initiate contact.

Is it ethical wildlife tourism?

Yes. We follow park rules and responsible-travel principles on every trip.
